Ever since their EU Challenger won entrance into the LCS, Dignitas Team owner Odee has been looking for somebody to purchase one of his LCS teams, as per Riot’s rules, you cannot own 2 LCS teams. Even though Dignitas’ other team is in the NA LCS, the rules still apply, so bidding stated at $500,000, and today dailydot.com has gotten word on the purchase of Dignitas’ EU LCS team. Josh Raven has the details so far:
Team Dignitas and the unknown buyer have agreed to a deal, and all that remains is to sign the paperwork. For its part, Team Dignitas declined to comment on this article. But sources tell the Daily Dot the winning bid was upwards of $1 million.
It’s unclear why the organization chose to sell off their European squad. Dignitas is based in Europe and owns a Danish Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team that also features an all-Danish lineup. The North American team has certainly been the organization’s main focus in years past, especially after the team signed two South Korean players, Noh “Gamsu” yeong-jin and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in, last season.
Previously, Odee has stated that he was only going to sell a LCS team if he was sure the players would be treated well, so however this unknown buyer is, it is likely that team will stick together. Check out more on EU Dignitas over on the full article here.
